    Thank you Michelle for the video ! Very important point to emphasize on when you are working with ESL students. I often see students pick some words and use them without noticing that it does have a negative meaning. See you on Tuesday! :)

    Thank you Michelle for sharing the video! That's absolutely one of those things ESL teachers need to season their teaching with. Sometimes students may try to copy words from movies or any videos they have watched before without paying attention to the condition, place, or culture of that group in the movie and suppose that is the right way to talk to others.

    Thanks Michelle, a great video on connotation and denotation, I can remember in public schools teachers using negative connotations that would shut the whole classroom down from participating. So, I think it's important to be aware of the subtle forms of negative connotation and exchange for some positive connotation when and if it's useful.

Hi everyone I hope you are having a great weekend! When the program began, I was researching online about how a teen, Tim Doner, used technology to aid his fluency and accuracy with languages with authentic exposure. For example, the teenager in the clip uses the Internet to draw elements of blended learning before engaging in conversation with others using the foreign language he acquired. In addition, he would also elicit responses for pronunciation by posting YouTube clips of himself and then gets the feedback from native speakers in the chosen foreign language. Criminal Record Checks

Great news class that I wanted to share. Linda Vanderheide, my supervisor whom you met, has confirmed that those of you with existing valid criminal record checks can use them for our practicum. In her recent email to me, she said, "  Yes, TESOL students with active Criminal Records checks can use them with our school.  However they have to use the SHARING FORM.  Here is a link: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/ content/safety/crime- prevention/criminal-record- check/sharing-results So that is great news for our class. If you have any questions about this process, we can talk more about it soon. I have never used this sharing link before. But I will do the best to answer questions and help you out.  Marc
