Wednesday Night's "Online Class"

Hey everyone. I'm really enjoying my "Teachers Institute on Parliamentary Democracy" which started today in Victoria. Here I am enjoying some down time relaxing! Just kidding! I was posing for this picture.

Because we are not having class tomorrow night, I would like you to watch a video of your choice from TED. If you are familiar with Ted Talks, you'll know what I mean. If, however, you have never watched a TED Talk, google "ted talks" on your computer or phone, and you will be asked to choose a topic. One of my favourite TED speakers is Sir Ken Robinson.     I love watching TED Talks..the videos have such powerful messages.I have never watched Sir Ken Robinson.The topic sounds interesting.Will watch it.

    Great photo Marc! You look so parliamentary! I love TED Talks, so this is a great assignment. Looks like you are enjoying yourself, have a great rest of your time in Victoria!

      Thanks! I'm having a great time here. But long days...out the door at 7:15, and in meetings almost right away....tonight is my only early night and it's just before 7pm. I am learning so much! See you next week.

    Nice photo Marc! You are looking very distinguished at the teachers event in Victoria in that photo. I enjoy watching Ted Talks and will be watching Sir Ken Robinson asap. I hope you are enjoy the rest of your stay in Victoria and get a chance to soak up some of this sun before the rain season begins on Tuesday!

    Your photo is stunning, Marc! Waiting to hear more about the event next Tuesday.
    I think I watched Ted talk sometimes late on TV if I am not wrong. I try to watch at least one part of it today and more during weekend. If this is what I watched is very good especially for real-life informal conversations, phrases, or terminology you cannot find it easily in books or ESL Teaching kits.

    Nice photo Marc. Your friend is absolutely right because for a second I thought it’s some one from the Parliamnet. Hope you had a great time at the conference in Victoria. I have watched few ted talk videos but not the one you have mentioned. Will definitely going to watch this one today.

    Nice picture Marc! You should really think about a parliamentary job and consider us as your assistants! I am not sure if I have ever watched TED talks but I am looking forward to watching it on the weekend!

Hi everyone I hope you are having a great weekend! When the program began, I was researching online about how a teen, Tim Doner, used technology to aid his fluency and accuracy with languages with authentic exposure. For example, the teenager in the clip uses the Internet to draw elements of blended learning before engaging in conversation with others using the foreign language he acquired. In addition, he would also elicit responses for pronunciation by posting YouTube clips of himself and then gets the feedback from native speakers in the chosen foreign language. Criminal Record Checks

Great news class that I wanted to share. Linda Vanderheide, my supervisor whom you met, has confirmed that those of you with existing valid criminal record checks can use them for our practicum. In her recent email to me, she said, "  Yes, TESOL students with active Criminal Records checks can use them with our school.  However they have to use the SHARING FORM.  Here is a link: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/ content/safety/crime- prevention/criminal-record- check/sharing-results So that is great news for our class.
