Welcome to our new class blog. We will use this blog for a variety of purposes. Several include:

  1. Giving you information about upcoming classes and discussion topics. 
  2. Posting additional learning resources. 
  3. Teaching and learning about using online resources. 
So it is important that you regularly check this blog for these updates. 

Each student will take a turn moderating the blog as well. This will entail viewing the content posted by fellow classmates, as well as posting some resources of your own. In this way we will create an online resource "tool kit", an online portfolio of sorts. 

I look forward to seeing how this blog evolves over the next few months!

Language Acquisition

Hi everyone I hope you are having a great weekend! When the program began, I was researching online about how a teen, Tim Doner, used technology to aid his fluency and accuracy with languages with authentic exposure. For example, the teenager in the clip uses the Internet to draw elements of blended learning before engaging in conversation with others using the foreign language he acquired. In addition, he would also elicit responses for pronunciation by posting YouTube clips of himself and then gets the feedback from native speakers in the chosen foreign language. Criminal Record Checks

Great news class that I wanted to share. Linda Vanderheide, my supervisor whom you met, has confirmed that those of you with existing valid criminal record checks can use them for our practicum. In her recent email to me, she said, "  Yes, TESOL students with active Criminal Records checks can use them with our school.  However they have to use the SHARING FORM.  Here is a link: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/ content/safety/crime- prevention/criminal-record- check/sharing-results So that is great news for our class.
